Any questions about USC prior to last week were answered in resounding fashion as the Trojans crushed Nebraska 49-31.

The game wasn’t as close as the scored indicated either. USC ran for 313 yards and at one point led 49-17. Next on the docket for the nation’s #1 team is the Pac 10 opener vs. Washington State. This has been a high scoring series of late, going OVER in eight of the L9. In last year’s contest, USC escaped Pullman with a 28-22 decision. Prior to that though, the Trojans won the last three in blowout fashion. Pete Carroll’s club was 3-6 ATS in Pac 10 play in ‘06, but has covered 22 of 30 at home.

Going from playing Idaho at home to making journey to SoCal to play USC, is similar to dating Jessica Alba one week and Sandra Bernhardt the next, with the latter not a pretty sight. This is what Washington State has presented to them playing the Trojans. Signal caller Alex Brink is an enigma, showing signs of being great and dreadful, with not many games in between. He can make the Cougars a sleek scoring machine or bury them in an avalanche of bad passes.

USC has so much talent on scholarship virtually every school in the country uses the line, “Well USC recruited him” and will use that as premise to take their hand-me downs. The Trojans should want to send fear into the hearts of other Pac-10 teams in league opener, by burying Washington State. This would further enhance aura of invincibility about Pate Carroll’s team and negate LSU’s brownie points they have been picking up. Washington State has to try to overcome the obvious talent difference and the fact that USC is 31-0 straight up when playing at home.

The Trojans have to overcome gargantuan spreads at the LA Coliseum and have managed pretty well with 21-10 ATS mark in last five plus seasons. Washington State’s last two trips in has had them outscored 98-29. It might be Sandra Bernhardt time again.

StatFox Power Ratings indicate USC by 22, but StatFox Doug says: USC by 33
