Kentucky is playing in its third bowl game in the last nine seasons. Ironically, all three were in the Music City Bowl in Nashville. With that air of familiarity, the Wildcats and QB Andre Woodson, playing his final game for the school, will welcome a first time visitor to this bowl series, Florida State. Both teams share identical 7 & 5 won & lost records but the Seminoles were just 1 & 4 straight up AND ATS vs. teams with a winning record this season while Kentucky was a bit better at 3 & 4 straight up AND ATS. The Wildcats stumbled down the stretch though, going just 2 & 5 straight up AND ATS in their L7 games. Much could hinge on their ability to run the ball as they were 7 & 2 straight up AND 6 & 2 ATS when gaining more than 100 yards rushing in games this year, and 0 & 3 straight up AND ATS when not. HC Bobby Bowden boasts a 24 & 14 ATS record in L38 vs. good offensive teams (>=425 YARDS PER GAME).
